Blog: Educational Technology

Blogging is an interactive tool which promotes sharing, communication, reflection and collaboration.  This is a perfect tool to use in an educational setting.  I had the opportunity to "blog" In a educational technology course, which used blogging as a tool for sharing class discussions, providing opinions, and reflecting on selected reading topics and current events.

Video: Public Service Announcement

Video can be a very useful tool in the classroom.  With the current generation of students being so engulfed in technology, providing video assignments is an engaging and relatable form of assessment.  Creating videos and posting them on the web allows for creativity and fun.  In my example, I created a video that served as a public service announcement which highlight the accomplishments of student athletes.

Social Bookmarking: Diigo

Social Bookmarking is a web 2.0 tool.  Web 2.0 tools are web applications that facilitate sharing and collaboration.  With social bookmarking, users can share bookmarks, or links, of specific websites.  Users can tag appropriate descriptions of each bookmark, making it easier to navigate.  Most importantly, social bookmarking allows students and teachers to collaborate and share favorite websites, assignments, and projects in a professional environment.

Glogster Poster

A Glogster Poster is a digital, interactive poster.  This digital poster allows students to be creative, express opinions and emotions through digital media.  It allows students to incorporate text, pictures, graphic designs, videos, and music in one collaborative porject.  It is a very unique web design, which is a very useful tool for teachers and students. In my example, I used the Glogster Poster to highlight a journal article which explained how technologies help at-risk students become successful and remain successful in school.
